North Carolina Trapper Education Program
This is a free program offered through the cooperative efforts of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources
Commission and the North Carolina Trappers Association.  It is an excellent resource for anyone developing an
interest in trapping. The day long course consists of classroom based and live demonstration modules covering:

*History of trapping
*Responsible trapping
*Trapping Regulations
*Selective techniques
*Uses of fur
*Trapping Equipment
*Types of traps, bait and lure
*Fur handing
*Furbearer specific sets

Notepads and cameras are recommended to record the information for future use and continued study.

This higher level course is offered as an actual on-the line educational program to further hone the skills of
both new and more experienced trappers.  During the 3 day program you will have the opportunity for 1
on 1 experience with experts in various areas of the trapping world. Some topics included are:
-Water & dry methods
-Pro tips and techniques
-Trap modification & repair
-Avoiding non-targets
-Actual morning trap line checks
-Humane & safe dispatch
-Fur skinning, fleshing & marketing
-Record keeping & taxes
-Public relations
-Furbearer management
-Wildlife biology, behavior & habits

Current program cost is only $300 per person, which includes lodging, meals, tuition, training and  more.  
The upcoming class will be held April 2-4, 2010 at the NC Division of Forest Resources Mountain
Training Center in Crossnore, NC.  A $100 deposit is required for a reservation; full payment being due
